The police have opened criminal proceedings over the beating of a student by a physical education teacher at the Pryslut Lyceum in the village of Khotyn, Rivne Region. The law enforcement officers noticed the incident with the help of monitoring social networks, the press center writes. “On September 15, around 11 a.m., while monitoring social networks, the police found a video in which a teacher inflicts physical injuries on a student in an educational institution in the village of Khotyn of the former Berezniv district,” the statement reads. Photo: Screenshot from the video During the investigation, it was found that around 1:00 p.m. on September 14, during a break, a 35-year-old physical education teacher beat a 14-year-old student of the 9th grade. In front of his classmates, the boy was kicked 2 times in the torso. Serhii Manyuk, director of the Prislut Lyceum, told Suspilny that the physical education teacher had already been removed from his duties. “This teacher, who committed this act, has been suspended from work. We cannot comment now while the investigation is underway,” he said. At the same time, the director added that he could not say anything bad about the teacher, because he usually worked in accordance with his job instructions. The boy’s parents say that they also knew about the event, but did not contact the police. “They bullied my child, that’s all,” said the mother. But the ninth-grader’s father noted that they did not see bruises on the body, although they knew about the incident. The police reported that they have already opened proceedings under Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on the fact of intentional infliction of minor bodily harm.
