In the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Sumy regions, artificial intelligence began to be used to diagnose tuberculosis. This is the first medical application of machine learning models in Ukraine.
For this purpose, state-of-the-art equipment was installed in the medical centers. It is used by medical workers who have undergone appropriate training, the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reports.
They note that in more than 40 countries of the world artificial intelligence is used to process diagnostic data.
AI reads X-ray images and performs automatic analysis, after which it displays areas of potential pathology in the form of a heat map of the lungs. This allows you to detect lesions with a probability of 1 to 100%.
According to WHO, tuberculosis is the second leading cause of death in the world. More than 10 million people continue to suffer from this disease every year.
Ukraine belongs to the group of countries with a high level of tuberculosis. According to experts’ forecasts, a full-scale war in Ukraine may lead to a worsening of the situation.
It will be recalled that artificial intelligence detected more cases of breast cancer than doctors with many years of experience.
