During field examinations as part of World Cancer Day, doctors found 78 cases of cancer in different parts of Ukraine.

In total, 20,000 citizens were examined. Doctors sent more than a thousand of them for additional examinations, the Ministry of Health reports.

According to doctors, among the 78 cases of oncological diseases detected are melanoma, breast cancer and malignant tumors.

This means that 78 Ukrainians got the opportunity to start treatment and save their lives, because timely diagnosis is almost the main guarantee of the ability to break cancer plans“, the post says.

Doctors warn: in order to prevent the development of cancer or to detect the disease at an early stage, it is necessary to visit the family doctor at least once a year, even if there is nothing to worry about.

The doctor will tell you which preventive examinations and specialist consultations a person needs based on his age and state of health, and will give appropriate referrals if they are needed.

The Ministry of Health also reminds that the most important examinations and laboratory tests for cancer detection and treatment can be done free of charge under the medical guarantee program.

In particular, it is:

  • mammography (breast cancer screening);

  • Pap test (cervical cancer screening);

  • fecal occult blood test;

  • colonoscopy (colon cancer screening);

  • ultrasound diagnosis of pelvic organs;

  • dermatoscopy of atypical moles;

  • tests for hepatitis B and C.

Do not forget about the recommended tests and examinations. You can learn more about them in the Examination Calendar, which contains information about the necessary analyzes and intervals“, the Ministry of Health concluded.

We remind you that the risk of developing cancer is halved at least 15 years after quitting smoking. To prevent the risk of developing the disease, it is better to quit smoking at a young age.
