In Ukraine, it was officially allowed to take pets to shelters. But there are certain conditions

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine issued an order canceling the rule on not allowing animals into shelters. However, they can only be there with their owners and be housed in separate rooms or separate areas.

Now it is a violation not to enter the shelter with an animal!” – note animal rights activists UAnimals. In December, the organization’s lawyers turned to the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a proposal to change and update the ministry’s order dated 2018, which contained this norm.

According to the new document, pet owners must:

  • constantly watch over your pets;
  • provide them with conditions corresponding to biological, species and individual characteristics;
  • guarantee the safety of others and their property.

Domestic animals that may pose a danger to human life or health must be on a leash during their stay in shelters. And dogs whose breeds belong to the list of dangerous must also be muzzled, the order says.

We will remind you that the issue of animals being in protective structures arose after the scandal in Kyiv, when two children and a small dog were not allowed into the shelter during the explosions. Their mother said at the time that they were under a lot of stress.
