In Ukraine, the profession “cook of an educational institution” will appear

In Ukraine, recruitment for training in the specialty “Cook of an educational institution” will be opened. It will begin in September on the basis of vocational and technical education institutions.

Director General of the Vocational Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science, Iryna Shumik, said this during the regional forum “Reform of school meals – a priority and conscious choice of Zhytomyr Oblast”, Ukrinform reports.

“The reform of school meals is carried out quite systematically. It is clear that by installing new equipment, but not providing the appropriate tools, skills, opportunities, and materials to those who directly prepare food on a daily basis, the success of this reform will be doubtful.” – she emphasized.

That is why, as Shumik noted, the Ministry of Education and Culture, together with the Office of Reforms of the Cabinet of Ministers, is working on the introduction of the new profession “Cook of an educational institution”.

According to her, the training program has already been approved. It will allow you to get all the necessary skills to work on new equipment and with new recipes.

Among the main goals are the modernization of kitchens and canteens in educational institutions, improving the qualifications of cooks and forming healthy habits among Ukrainians.
