On August 1, 25-year-old Dmytro Bily, an otolaryngologist, died in Kherson as a result of Russian shelling of the Yevhen Karabelesh city hospital. It was the man’s first working day at the hospital after completing his internship, reports the student council of the Zaporizhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, where Dmytro studied. In 2015, the boy entered the first year of the medical faculty. After graduating from the university in 2021, he applied to Kherson and entered an internship in otolaryngology. “He was very kind, cheerful, the soul of the company, always smiling. Life”, Serhii Marusyan, one of Dmytro’s friends, said that he followed in his mother’s footsteps and wanted to become a doctor. Serhiy met Dmytro in the Zaporozhye medvysha. In the first year, they lived together in a dormitory. Then Dmytro moved to an apartment, and friends often visited him. “He always had fun: dancing, music. He liked to listen to rock. He was a great friend and always helped, he was completely selfless. He was very intelligent and qualified for his age,” says the man. The last time Serhiy called Dmytro was on July 31. “He was very happy that he was going to work as a doctor and would be able, in particular, to operate fully. At the time of the start of the full-scale invasion, the boys were working at the Kherson Regional Hospital. Dmytro left the occupied city in July 2022, after which he worked as a doctor in Zaporizhzhia. Dmytro returned to de-occupied Kherson in May 2023. “He liked otolaryngology because it is possible to practice – operate, as well as consult, communicate with people. Training in the internship lasted until the end of June. July is a vacation, and on August 1, the interns officially start working,” says Artur. According to Artur, Dmitry will be buried on Friday. It will be recalled that in Odesa, due to shelling by the Russian Federation on the night of June 10, settlers from Bakhmut were killed.
