“It’s easier because we were together from the beginning.” The story of the triplets from NSU who defended the Kyiv region

Bohdan, Andriy and Roman are triplets. They are already 20 years old and have served in the National Guard for 2.5 years. The National Guard of Ukraine told about their story. All three were born in Bukovina. They served their term of service as part of the Chervona Kalina brigade. We found ourselves in a whirlwind of events from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion. All three were part of mortar calculations. Thanks to training, they knew well how to work with a 120-caliber mortar. Photo: NGU “For us, active combat operations began already on February 26. We were fighting for Vasylkiv. Enemy aircraft, explosions, adrenaline. But we did not feel any panic. Previously, we went through combat training on two training grounds, and we understood that if there was a task, then we will be able to fulfill it,” says Andrii. He also added that officers with combat experience added confidence to the unit. The boys remember the period when they fought for Motyzhyn and the Zhytomyr highway. There, the occupiers were pushed out kilometer by kilometer. “When our unit went on the offensive in the morning, we as mortars worked on enemy positions, and in the evening we entered them. We saw things left by the occupiers there – clothes, sukhpai. And most importantly, we got trophies. Often it was ammunition, in particular, shots to RPG,” Roman recalls. Together, the three brothers liberated more than 20 settlements in the Kyiv region. And then they helped set up positions in case of a new enemy attack on the capital. “Of course, it is much easier for us in all situations, because there were three of us from the beginning. We went through combat operations together and are glad that we are continuing our service together,” says Bohdan. We will remind you that earlier we wrote about a National Guardsman who worked as a bodyguard and then became a professional soldier.
