Jubilee Children Film Festival announced the dates and program

[ad_1]

From June 30 to July 9, Ukraine will host the 10th Children’s Film Festival – the largest Ukrainian film festival for children and teenagers. Read UP.Culture in Telegram This year, the event will take place in a hybrid format: festival screenings will be held simultaneously in cinemas in 10 cities of Ukraine (Kyiv, Lviv, Uzhhorod, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Chernivtsi and others). For online viewing, the organizers are preparing a special anniversary program – a selection of the winning films of the Children’s Film Festival of previous years. As always, screenings in cinemas and online are free with advance registration. As part of the Children’s Film Festival, the Children’s Film Competition takes place every year, participation in which is open to all young directors. Acceptance of works for participation in the Children’s Film Competition lasts until May 29. The jury included well-known Ukrainian cinematographers: the director of the animated film “Mavka. Forest Song” and the author of the animated series “Patron Dog” Oleksandra Ruban, the director and screenwriter of the film “Pamfir” Dmytro Suholytkyi-Sobchuk and the actress Rimma Zyubina (“Dove’s Nest”, “Lyusia Intern”). The screening of this tape will mark the 30th anniversary of its release. “Secret Garden” is the work of director Agnieszka Holland, who is known to Ukrainian audiences primarily for her film about the Holodomor, “The Price of Truth”. This film is an adaptation of the classic children’s novel by the English writer Frances Hodgson Burnet. The picture tells about a 10-year-old girl who solves the secret of a garden hidden in a gloomy estate. The retrospective screening within the Children Film Festival continues the tradition of introducing the young audience to film classics: in different years, the cartoons “Wolf Fox”, “Treasure Island”, as well as the masterpieces of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Georges Méliès were shown at the festival. “The topic of children’s cinema is very important to me. I believe that it is a necessary and little-used topic in our cinema, which carries a huge burden and an idea. People go to children’s films together with their families, and after viewings there is a joint discussion of what they saw and experienced – such the experience cannot be compared with anything,” Rimma Zyubina comments on her involvement in the festival. “Participation in the jury is a responsible thing! That’s why I’m worried, preparing and really looking forward to meeting other points of view of little artists, because what could be more exciting than looking at the world through the eyes of another person?!” – says jury member Oleksandra Ruban. Finalist films of the Children’s Film Competition will be shown in the participating cities of the festival within the framework of the 10th Children Film Festival, as well as online. The winners of the competition will be awarded prizes from 5 to 10 thousand hryvnias. You can familiarize yourself with the conditions of participation on the Children’s Film Festival website.
