In Kyiv, the police opened a case on the fact that unknown persons illegally cut down a 12-year-old oak tree, which the townspeople planted on December 13, to honor the memory of the famous capital activist and scout Roman Ratushny, who died last June in the Kharkiv region.
As reported in the commentary of “UP. Life” in the police, investigators have started criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft committed under martial law).
The sanction of the article provides from 5 to 8 years in prison, said Dmytro Hryshchenko, the acting head of the communication department of the National Security Service in Kyiv.
The investigation is ongoing, he added. The law enforcement officers will be able to provide more additional information later.

Roman Ratushnyi is a well-known Kyiv activist and scout who died in the battle near Izyum, Kharkiv region, on June 9. He was 24 years old. From the first days of the full-scale war, Roman first joined the ranks of the territorial defense of Kyiv, and then fought as a scout in the 93rd mechanized brigade “Kholodny Yar”.
Before the full-scale invasion, Roman, who headed the public initiative “Protect Protasiv Yar”, together with like-minded people, fought against the construction of high-rise buildings in the park zone of Kyiv.
After his death in the capital, Volgogradska Street, near Protasovo Yar, was renamed in his honor.
