Due to the insufficient number of English-speaking workers in Ukraine, the tourism industry is suffering. The issue of service is also problematic. This was stated by the head of the State Tourism Development Agency Maryana Oleskiv in an interview with “Interfax-Ukraine”. For those who want to work in the tourism industry, the leader advises them to learn a foreign language. “Due to the lack of knowledge of the English language, the tourism industry suffers the most. Even in Kyiv, when I go to restaurants with foreign friends, there are rarely waiters in the establishments who can provide normal and high-quality service in English,” Oleskiv said. But children’s communication skills are not enough. As well as mutual understanding and teamwork. “I believe that if we go globally to dual education, it will automatically change a lot in our industry,” added the head of the state agency. She also emphasized that if the framework of the education system in general changes, then reforms can also take place in the tourism industry. “That’s why, for our part, we are interested in the emergence of educational programs specifically in the field of service,” concluded Oleskiv. We will remind, 68% of Ukrainians have certain knowledge of one foreign language, and 51% – of English. Read also: How to travel in Ukraine during martial law: permits and restrictions
