“Love worth a million”: in Kharkiv Oblast, a guy stole money from a girl and put it in a “crypt”

In the Kharkiv region, a guy stole 1 million hryvnias from a roommate to invest in cryptocurrency. He was informed of the suspicion of a particularly large amount of theft (Part 5 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), writes the press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The couple had a trusting relationship. Therefore, the suspect knew that the girl had almost 1.2 million hryvnias, which she received from running a business. Also, the girl did not hide her phone password. In the victim’s notes, he found the password for the banking application, after which he repeatedly transferred funds in the total amount of 1 million hryvnias to his account. Also, he was deleting notifications from her phone. He put the stolen money in his crypto-wallet and spent the money on shopping at the mall. However, the girl did notice the lack of money in the account. As noted by the prosecutor’s office, the court granted the prosecution’s request and ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody.
