Mariupol, temporarily occupied by the Russians, faces a problem with drinking water in the summer. This was stated by Petro Andryushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol. According to him, the occupiers are trying to connect two reservoirs, which could cause an ecological disaster in the city. As Andryushchenko explains, the city receives water from a reserve reservoir in the Old Crimea, which is filled through the Kalchyk stream. In the summer, in the heat, the water level will not be enough for Mariupol’s water supply even at the minimum, and the blocked Kalchyk will not allow the reservoir to recover,” predicts Petro Andryushchenko. According to him, in order to solve the water problem, the occupiers allegedly “found” the documents of the city council’s project regarding the new water supply and decided to “recklessly implement” it. The mayor’s adviser adds that the project involved a water treatment plant and the construction of a water intake from two reservoirs – Starokrymsky and Pavlopilsky.
