For the first time in history, the Armed Forces of Ukraine approved the summer field military uniform for women. It was officially placed on the service of military personnel, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported. The form was tested for a month – in early July, the form was presented to the Ministry of Defense and testing began. “The model of the summer field suit for our female military personnel is going through the proper procedures within the stated time frame. The technical specification and standard sample have already been approved. Therefore, the appropriate procurement and supply procedures to the troops will be started in the near future,” said Oleksiy Reznikov, Minister of the Department. According to the minister, not all NATO member states have an approved women’s uniform. For example, in the USA, women have been allowed to serve in the army since 1948, and uniforms for them began to be implemented only in 2009. It took another 2 years to create a form taking into account anthropological parameters. “In the Israeli army, where women have been serving mandatory military service for more than 50 years, women’s uniforms are not issued in all units. So we can safely say that we are among the leaders,” added Oleksiy Reznikov. In addition, the minister reported that work on the introduction of women’s body armor continues. “There are already the first samples of women’s bulletproof vests. They are being studied for compliance with the technical specification. After all the relevant tests and approvals, standard samples of bulletproof vests will be approved. Ultimately, our women defenders will have the opportunity to receive not only field uniforms, but also personal protective equipment in accordance with their anthropometric data,” said Oleksiy Reznikov. We will remind you that the unified women’s uniform in the Armed Forces was first discussed in July 2022. In the fall of the same year, volunteers began sewing it up, and by the end of the year, testing had already begun. Read also: The shape of our dignity: what should be the clothes for military women
