Support of Ukrainian craft manufacturers in turbulent times April 5, 2024 PROMOTED Lychnika, original ceramics, glass products – unique craft crafts in Ukraine. They are all united by a common philosophy – attention to detail and uniqueness. This is the philosophy that became the basis for one of Credobank’s services – Craft Banking. CRAFT AS A SERVICE The idea of creating a service for customers of the premium segment, which combines limited uniqueness, craftsmanship and people-centeredness, arose about two years ago. And already on December 19, 2022, Craft Banking started its work. “Inspired by craft as a phenomenon, the year before last for the Christmas holidays, we gave gifts from craft producers to Kredobank customers. We received many favorable reviews, so we decided to tell about craft to a wider audience. Especially during the war it acquired additional meaning, because assistance to small and medium-sized businesses is important both for the artisans themselves and for the Ukrainian economy in general. Therefore, support and popularization of Ukrainian craft producers is one of the tasks of Craft Banking,” says Andriy Melnyk, director of Kredobank’s marketing department. Therefore, in winter, Kredobank organized a number of events within the framework of the “Craft Christmas” project to promote the development of local Ukrainian craft brands and artists. And now the bank has become a partner of the European days of craft and arts and crafts in Ukraine. This landmark event for craft producers is taking place in Ukraine for the first time this year. European craft days: when everyone can touch craft Since 2002, first in France, and later in other European countries, the European days of craft and arts and crafts have been held. This is an annual festival that takes place decentralized in different European cities. It traditionally takes place in the spring, when craftsmen open the doors of their workshops in order to familiarize everyone with the richness of craft art through master classes and lectures. The event, which was partnered by Kredobank, takes place from April 2 to 7. In order to popularize the traditions of Ukrainian handicrafts, to strengthen ties with local craft studios, workshops, and schools, a number of events are taking place. In particular, master classes for children and adults, where everyone can try to master traditional Ukrainian crafts: ceramics, carving, paneling, hammering, blacksmithing, etc. Lectures by artists: Daria Alyoshkina (sculpture) and Halyna Istomina (ceramics). Also, at the craft networking “European days of craft and artistic crafts” in Lviv, a presentation of the publishing project, in which Kredobank joined, is planned. Its details will be known soon. This year’s slogan of the European Days of Craft and Arts and Crafts is “Little fingers, hands of experts”. Involve children in craft art is one of the tasks of the event. After all, it is children who should nurture the right values and build bridges between generations.” The scale of the 2024 European Craft Days is really impressive. In total, the event takes place in 25 countries, and about 10,000 events are organized during it, which will be attended by more than a million people. Ukraine’s participation in “European days of craft not only help preserve our cultural traditions, but also introduce other European cultures to Ukrainian crafts. And such connections are links for cooperation and the opening of new markets,” says Andriy Melnyk. “Craft Christmas” is the largest craft collaboration in For Ukraine, this is not the first large-scale campaign for Kredobank to support Ukrainian craft producers and the revival of the Ukrainian craft tradition. At the end of 2023, the bank organized “Craft Christmas”, a series of events to popularize handicrafts. In particular, an advent calendar was placed on the “Craft Christmas” portal, which introduced Ukrainian crafters. Every day for 25 days, a window with a unique product from one of the craft manufacturers was opened in the calendar. And after the end of the campaign, all 25 works from the advent calendar were raffled off among Craft Banking customers. Among the prizes in the advent calendar, in particular, there were glasses made of coffee grounds from Ochis, a woolen carpet from GUSHKA and craft decorations for Christmas trees from “Zrobiv Tato”. Revival and development of craft traditions Also within the framework of “Craft Christmas” a number of entertaining and educational events took place, in which Kredobank joined. In order to revive and popularize Christmas traditions, a historical special project and a podcast were created in collaboration with “Local History”, in which writer and translator Nadiyka Gerbish talked about Christmas traditions with historian Yaroslav Hrytsak, artist Ivanka Dymid, researcher of Galician cuisine Marianna Dushar, writer and publisher Mar by Yana Savka, psychoanalyst Yurk Prokhask. Within the framework of “Kraftova poshta” everyone could send a craft postcard to their relatives and friends for free. For this purpose, mailboxes were installed in 66 branches of the bank, in Lviv Skansen during the event “Christmas in the Grove”, at the Christmas fair “In Search of Christmas” by “I te, i se” and “Tlum & Kram”. We also supported a number of other events. These are fairs, concerts, performances. Not all of them, in addition to entertainment, also had a charitable component. During the events, meetings were organized, the funds from which were directed to help the Ukrainian military and to rebuild the country. I am convinced that at this time it is absolutely necessary to understand that any business must be socially responsible,” adds Andriy Melnyk, director of the marketing department of Kredobank. Another charity event was held within the project. For 26 specialized educational institutions of the Lviv region, they gave live Christmas trees, craft Christmas decorations and sweets for children. During the war, supporting those who need it – a child, an artisan, a soldier – is the duty of entrepreneurs. After all, it is correct when values become an integral part of business development. © 2007-2024, Ukrainian Pravda.
