In the Rivne region, a man was tried for the rape and molestation of a minor girl, who was not 14 years old at the time of the crime. A resident of the village of Kunyn in the former Zdolbuniv district (now Rivne district) engaged in oral sex with an underage girl for several years, according to the Rivne regional prosecutor’s office. The case states that the 38-year-old accused was introduced to the girl by her own mother, who provided intimate services to the man. The man met the child in deserted places, committed lewd acts and gave her a monetary reward. The victim’s sister was also involved in the intimate relationship. “The victim’s mother sometimes took her with her to meetings. The girl provided him with sexual services for a fee, voluntarily, namely masturbated for him, engaged in oral sex. Meetings with the victim were arranged over the phone, which took place in forest plantations, under a bridge, in an abandoned house in the village of Kunyn, Rivne district, Rivne region,” the court’s decision reads. The man knew that the girl was a minor. While committing lewd acts of a sexual nature, he gave the victim money. “The minor victim testified to the court that in the summer of 2018, her mother introduced the accused. Her mother provided sexual services for a fee to the accused and offered to earn money for her. The said actions were voluntary, for a fee, sometimes in the presence of the mother, which began in 2018 year and lasted until the moment of contacting the police,” the case states. The victim did not tell about the violence for a long time, because she was afraid that her father would beat her, but later she still told her relatives about the rape and molestation. They forced the child to report to the police. During the trial, the accused admitted his guilt only partially. The prosecutor of the Zdolbuniv district prosecutor’s office found the man guilty on three counts (Part 4 of Article 152 – rape, Part 2 of Article 155 – sexual intercourse with a person under the age of sixteen, Part 2 of Article 156 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – corruption of minors) . The court sentenced the perpetrator to 11 years behind bars without deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities. “The verdict of the Zdolbuniv District Court sentenced the man to 11 years of imprisonment, with his data entered in the Unified Register of Persons Convicted of Crimes Against Sexual Freedom and Inviolability of Minors,” law enforcement officers add.
