NAU wants to transfer the Flight Academy to the Kharkiv University of the Air Force and the Ministry of Defense: the Ministry of Education and Culture reacted

The National Aviation University wants to transfer the Flight Academy to the Kharkiv Ivan Kozhedub National University of the Air Force.
The relevant decision was approved by the Academic Council of the National Aviation University, according to the institution’s website.
At the same time in the comment “UP Life“ the Ministry of Education and Science reported that this cannot be done without a Cabinet decision.
The NAU states that they want to transfer the complete property complex of the Flight Academy of the NAU to the sphere of administration of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine as a separate structural unit of the Kharkiv National University of the Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub.

In the minutes of the meeting of the Academic Council, it is written that the goal is “promoting the development of the military education system, strengthening the personnel potential of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and further deployment of the training of highly qualified specialists for military aviation”.
The website of the institution adds that the basis for the decision was:
- appeal of the staff of the Flight Academy of the National Academy of Sciences regarding separation from the structure of the National Academy of Sciences;
- address of the leadership of the Kharkiv National University of the Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub regarding the need to use the educational and material base of the Academy to perform tasks to ensure the country’s defense capability;
- the need to meet the needs for the training of aviation personnel according to international standards within the framework of the aviation development strategy of Ukraine.
The institution sent the draft Cabinet Order to the Ministry of Education and Science for approval “On the transfer of the integral property complex of the Flight Academy of the National Aviation University to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine“.
The institution is proposed to be named the Flight Academy of the Kharkiv National University of the Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub.
According to the document, students studying at the Aviation Academy of NAU should continue their studies at the Aviation Academy of the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University.
How did the MES react?
In the comment “UP Life” Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi said that as of 3:15 p.m. on October 2, he had not received the draft order from NAU.
According to him, the Scientific Council of NAU accepted “decisions not justified by legislation“.
“I would recommend the leadership of the National Aviation University to read the legislation because the Academic Council does not make a decision on the transfer of property. This requires a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers.” – added Vinnytskyi.

Earlier, a source in the MES informed “UP. Life” that in the near future the Government may consider an order on the reorganization of the National Aviation University (NAU) in Kyiv.
It is tentatively planned to divide NAU into two structures: State University “Kyiv Aviation Institute” (the historical name of NAU) and a separate institution called the Ukrainian State Aviation Academy (Kropyvnytskyi).
At the same time, NAU was asked not to do this and presented its requests.
We will remind, according to NAU, the Flight Academy and the Kharkiv Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub want to join forces for the training of aviation personnel. At the same time, the academy previously commented that they had not heard of such plans.
