The National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education received appeals regarding the verification of the dissertations of the Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovoy, and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science, and Innovation, Serhiy Babak. The appeal regarding the search for plagiarism was submitted by the authors of the scientific works themselves, NAZYAVO reported. “These appeals caused significant public interest and a tangible political resonance,” the department says. The appeals of Oksen Lisovoy and Serhii Babak were published on the agency’s website. In particular, Oksen Lisovyi asked NAMELY to check the authenticity of the publications in which he is accused of borrowing without citing the scientific works of A. Zuyev and Ya. Arabuchka. Later, scientists found in Lisovoy’s dissertation a number of coincidences with other scientific works. The department explained that after the committee accepts the applications for consideration, the standard verification procedure will begin, according to which more than one dissertation was considered. NAZYAVO also assured that the thesis review is guided by the principle of equality in the approach to all applicants, regardless of gender, nationality or position. We will remind you that even before he was appointed to the post of minister, Oksen Lisovoy was accused of plagiarism in his scientific work. The minister promised to submit his thesis for verification at NAZYAVO, and if plagiarism is found there, to withdraw his scientific degree. The head of the parliamentary committee on education, science and innovation, Serhii Babak, also decided to send a statement to NAZYAVO regarding the verification of his scientific work. Later, scientists announced additional episodes of plagiarism that they found in the minister of education’s dissertation. Read also: The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed a new chairman in NAME
