Most of the surveyed Ukrainians have a positive attitude towards women who have joined the Armed Forces. At the same time, 65% believe that it is more difficult for a woman to build a career in the army. This is evidenced by the results of the Rating group survey conducted on March 27-29, 2023. 64% of respondents have an “unequivocally positive” attitude towards women currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 63% of people have the same opinion regarding female veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war. As part of the survey, people were asked about the most common gender stereotypes. Therefore, 53% of respondents “completely agreed” or “rather agreed” that the main vocation of a woman is to give birth to children. 21% of respondents “rather disagree” with this statement, and another 20% are against it. 24% of respondents rather or completely agree that men are better managers than women. At the same time, 74% do not agree with this, another 2% – it is difficult to answer. 65% of surveyed Ukrainians agree with the statement that it is more difficult for women who serve in the army to make a career than for men. 29% disagreed with the statement, and another 7% found it difficult to answer. There are also people who agreed with the statement that women serving in combat units “distract men from their tasks”: 4% completely agree; 14% – rather agree; 5% – difficult to answer; 42% – rather disagree; 34% do not agree at all. The survey was conducted by telephone interview method. It was attended by 2,000 people over the age of 18 in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas, as well as territories where there was no Ukrainian mobile connection at the time of the survey. The error of representativeness of the study is no more than 2.2%. Earlier, we talked about a mother with the call sign “Ant” who died in the war.
