Entrepreneurs who provide services via the Internet must maintain social networks in the Ukrainian language. We are talking about online stores, online catalogs, etc., reminds the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Taras Kremin. In 2023, the Commissioner’s Service conducted 14 inspections regarding the use of the state language in the field of consumer services. As a result, 7 violations were detected. Entrepreneurs who provide services using Internet services, such as YouTube, Telegram, Viber, Instagram, must maintain websites and pages in Ukrainian, Kremin emphasizes. “Versions of Internet offices in the state language should have no less information in terms of volume and content than foreign language versions, and should be downloaded by default for users in Ukraine,” the ombudsman notes. Mobile applications should also have an interface in the national language. However, information may be duplicated in other languages. Kremin reminded that the provision regarding the use of the Ukrainian language on the Internet is regulated by Article 7 of the Law of Ukraine “On Electronic Commerce”. According to the law, the seller of goods, works or services in electronic commerce is obliged to provide access to information about: the full name of a legal entity or the surname, first name, patronymic of an individual entrepreneur; the location of a legal entity or the place of registration and the actual place of residence of an individual entrepreneur.
