In Antarctica, hundreds of penguins are lined up near the “Akademik Vernadskyi” station, walking towards the ocean.

A crowd of penguins is going to have breakfast, the National Antarctic Science Center reports.

There are currently about 4,000 subantarctic penguins on Galindez Island, where the station is located.

In the video, which was made by biologist Serhiy Glotov, it can be seen that at first the animals gather on the shore of the ocean.

Scientists assume that the birds wait for someone to dive first – the bravest, because there are many predators hunting them in the water, in particular, sea leopards.

“The first “swimmer” can become easy prey, so sometimes penguins even push each other into the water on purpose”– scientists note.

Following the first bird, all the others dive into the water. The main goal is to find krill that you can eat for breakfast on your own and remind you of your family, the scientific center adds.

“When penguins go hunting together, it reduces the risk for each bird than if they were to forage alone.”scientists say.

We previously reported that an iceberg crashed into the island where penguins live in Antarctica, and fortunately, no one was hurt.
