A man who, pretending to be a policeman, defrauded pensioners of 100,000 hryvnias will be tried in Kyiv.
He worked according to the scheme “your relative is detained, money is needed”, reported the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
A 45-year-old man from Kyiv called pensioners and called himself a police officer. After that, he said that their relatives were detained for a fight in which one of its participants was injured.
According to legend, the “victim” was in a serious condition in the hospital.
Then the man offered to “solve the issue” so as not to bring the relative to justice.
As a result of this scam, four pensioners transferred about 100,000 hryvnias to the attacker’s bank card.
Currently, the indictment against the Kyiv resident has been sent to court. He will be tried for the crime provided for in parts 1 and 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – fraud.
The man faces up to three years in prison.
It will be recalled that a 27-year-old man was arrested in Khmelnytskyi region, who defrauded the mother of a dead serviceman for more than 300,000 hryvnias.
