On Thursday, March 16, participants of a peaceful protest gathered under the building of the National Music Academy of Ukraine on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv. They demand to finally rename the educational institution, removing the name of the Russian Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Natalka Pysanka, music columnist of UP.Kultura, reported this from the scene. The action of dissent was announced on social networks the day before. In addition to renaming the academy, the organizers want to achieve the dismantling of symbols of Russia from the walls and the return of teachers who previously resigned due to disagreement with the actions of the administration. The participants of the action came to the conservatory with posters: “Shame”, “How much more?”, “No Russian culture”, “Go away with the seagull”, “It’s a shame that we still have to prove something”. Under the conservatory, they demand to remove “traces” of Russia in the educational institution.
