SARS and pneumonia cases have increased in China: WHO is investigating the reason

The World Health Organization sent an official request to China regarding the growth of respiratory diseases and registered clusters (cells) of pneumonia in children.
As noted in the organization, on November 13, 2023, the Chinese authorities reported an increase in the incidence of respiratory diseases in the country.
Chinese authorities attribute this increase to the lifting of restrictions on COVID-19 and the spread of known pathogens such as influenza and the viruses RSV and SARS-CoV-2 that cause COVID-19.
The authorities emphasized the need to strengthen the surveillance of diseases in medical institutions and communities, as well as to strengthen the capacity of the health care system to manage patients.

On November 21, it became known about outbreaks of pneumonia in children in northern China.
It is not clear at this time whether this is due to the general increase in respiratory infections previously reported by the Chinese authorities or to individual events.
On November 22, WHO requested additional epidemiological and clinical information, as well as laboratory test results from registered cases in children through the mechanism of the International Health Regulations.
WHO recommends that citizens of the country take measures to reduce the risk of respiratory diseases. In particular, get vaccinated, keep a distance from sick people, stay at home when sick, consult a doctor, wear masks when necessary, ensure good ventilation and wash your hands regularly.
