The script of a night dream can decipher what our brain is trying to express, the head of the sleep laboratory at the Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim in Germany, Michael Schrödl, is convinced, writes Insider. In a 2018 study, Schrödl and his colleague analyzed more than 1,200 nightmares. They divided dreams into general themes and explained how to interpret them. We talk about the 10 most common of them. He added that dreams about accidents may be the brain’s way of dramatically expressing how we feel about our own mortality, abilities or health. Schrödl explains that in a nightmare with a similar scenario, a person is afraid to run from something that, in their opinion, is getting closer. Experiencing fear and running away from what causes it is avoidance behavior, says researcher Schrodl. Interpersonal conflicts are the sixth most common nightmares. In them, the dreamer becomes a witness to a verbal conflict. Feelings of anxiety Nightmares that contain fear and anxiety often do not give the dreamer a clear reason, however, they indicate a fear of the unknown. Many people dream of the feeling that they have forgotten something important, but do not remember what exactly. People in Schroedel’s study reported feeling like they knew something was wrong, but they didn’t know what, which made them even more anxious.
