Serhiy Shkarlet complains about the committee that discovered plagiarism in his dissertation

Former Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet filed a complaint with the Appeals Committee of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education.

Serhii Shkarlet complains about the actions of the Ethics Committee, which discovered plagiarism in his work, the minutes of the meeting state.

NAZYAVO suspended his plagiarism case while the complaint was being considered. The National Agency made such a decision on February 6.

In May 2023, Oleg Smirnov, a former associate professor of Sumy State University, submitted a statement to NAZYAVO, which referred to an alleged violation of Skarlet’s scientific work.

According to Smirnov, the dissertation 24% consists of plagiarism – Skarlet “borrowed” part of the doctoral work of the Russian scientist Silkina.

In December 2023, the Committee on Ethics NAMELY confirmed the presence of academic plagiarism in Serhiy Shkarlet’s dissertation “Formation of economic security of enterprises by means of activation of their innovative development”.

The analysis of the work lasted more than half a year. In it, experts found six sources that contained text matches.

“The materials contained in the state repository were separated into several files. It took a long time to recognize that this is a single, coherent document. We tried to do it in such a way that it could not be challenged in court.” – Andriy Butenko, chairman of NAZYAVO, explained at the time in the commentary “UP. Life”.
