In Volyn, doctors removed a tumor weighing up to 20 kilograms and 40 centimeters long from a patient with ovarian cancer.
The surgical intervention was performed at the Volyn Oncology Center of the Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital.
The operation, led by the head of the oncology and gynecology department, Ivan Sinelnikov, lasted 2 hours, according to the institution’s Facebook page.
The woman suspected the disease six months ago, when she began to rapidly gain weight, but did not consult a specialist.
“At first, this did not cause much concern. The pregnancy test turned out to be negative, and even the relatives reassured me: this is the constitution of the body, which was inherited. They said, my mother is also fat.
Despite her low weight, the woman went on a diet and seemed to be thin, but her stomach was growing.– they say in the hospital.
In the end, the woman turned to a gynecologist. Doctors found a tumor on ultrasound and diagnosed ovarian cancer.

The operation had to be done as soon as possible, because the large tumor could slough off and cause severe bleeding.
“This would have led to a great loss of blood and, ultimately, to a fatal case. There was also a great threat of damage to other organs, and it would have been much more difficult to save the patient.
This is the case when it is very important to seek help in time, even if you have the slightest doubts about your health.” – they say in the hospital.
The operation was performed by Ivan Sinelnikov together with surgeons Yulia Matyushko and Yulia Shevchuk, intern Anna Denisyuk and anesthesiologist Roman Shurgot. Histology confirmed the cancer.
“Doctors preliminarily established the first A stage of the disease. No other surrounding growths were found, but they took the necessary number of biopsies to finally understand the degree of damage.”doctors say.
According to the doctors, now the patient feels satisfactory. She will be in the cancer center until all test results are received.
