Start of the social project “Physical Therapist School” within the framework of the “Return Heroes in Action”® program

In August, on the basis of the scientific and practical center of neurorehabilitation “NODUS”, the “Physical Therapist School” begins its activities, which aims to improve the qualifications of specialists in the field of neurorehabilitation of injured defenders and the civilian population. The project is implemented with the support of the EPAM Ukraine company and “KRAN” BF. They worked on the creation of the project for about a year. The first pilot group will consist of several dozen participants from all over the country who will undergo a special selection. Training for them will be free of charge and will last for a month. After completing the course, they will return to their medical facilities to provide competent care as part of interdisciplinary teams of physicians. Among the teachers are doctors from the “NODUS” clinic, as well as experienced practitioners from other medical institutions of the country. Thanks to the use of the center’s achievements and advanced world methods, the “School of Physical Therapists” will improve the situation with access to neurotrauma treatment in Ukraine. They plan to train up to 200 specialists per year, each of whom will be able to work with an average of 10 injured patients. “Treatment of neurotraumas is complex and long-term. It takes place according to individual programs. Therefore, in order to shorten the rehabilitation route of the patient, it is important that they are developed by specialist experts. And we are working to ensure that there are more of them in Ukraine. To teach rescue and teach recovery, so that to return the defenders to a full life – this is how we see the mission of our project”, – Oleksandr Kulyk, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, director of the “NODUS” NPCNR and head of the “School of Physical Therapists”. It is worth noting that in 2014, the “NODUS” clinic launched a charitable project for the neurorehabilitation of defenders. Since then, the clinic has helped more than 460 patients recover thanks to modern technologies and their experience in working with complex injuries and damages. As part of the “School of Physical Therapists” project, there will be a transfer of training to all willing physical therapists who are ready to improve their level of professionalism in this direction. Registration for training. Since the establishment of the “NODUS” center, it has been supported by many different companies and individuals. However, it began to work most powerfully in 2017 with the appearance of systemic assistance from KRAN Bank, and later from EPAM Ukraine. The collaboration influenced not only the number of recovered patients who managed to provide specialized neurorehabilitation care, but also the development of the industry as a whole. Therefore, the ideas and approaches of the center are successfully implemented in public sector institutions. “EPAM has been helping the country since the first days of a full-scale invasion. We provide defenders with everything they need – from evacuation vehicles to paramedic shoulder bags. But the need for adaptation of veterans and neurorehabilitation is no less important. That is why we support the start of the “Physical Therapist School” both financially, technically, and expertly, participating in the development of relevant digital solutions. This initiative is part of EPAM’s comprehensive program for the adaptation of veterans “Bringing Heroes back to the line,” comments Natalya Kolyadko, director of talent development at EPAM Ukraine. Inna Danchenko, head of the “CRANE” foundation, adds: “The direction of neurorehabilitation is the most difficult, people literally learn to speak, move, and live again.
