Israel released the 85-year-old hostage of Hamas, Yocheved Lifshitz. At the press conference, she spoke about the conditions in which she was kept.
This is reported by The Guardian.
The woman was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz (an agricultural commune in Israel). She was held hostage for 16 days.
At the time of her release, Lifshitz shook the hand of one of the Hamas militants who held her captive, with the words “shalom” – “peace” in Hebrew.

Lifshitz says that when the militants broke through the border, they “went wild.” They killed and kidnapped everyone indiscriminately, both young and old.
The woman was taken to Gaza on a motorcycle.
“While we were driving, a motorcyclist hit me with a wooden stick. The ribs were not broken, but it hurt a lot in that area, it was difficult to breathe. My watch and jewelry were stolen.” she says.
During her captivity, Lifshitz was held in the city of Abasan al-Kabir and another place that she could not identify.
“We went underground and walked for kilometers through damp tunnels, two or three hours in a web of tunnels. We reached a large hall. There were 25 of us and they divided us according to which kibbutz we were from.” – says Yoheved.
According to her, the hostages and their guards ate the same food.
The woman claims that the prisoners were visited daily by a doctor who gave medicines to those who needed them. In particular, among the prisoners was a person who was injured as a result of a motorcycle accident.
“They (Hamas militants – ed.) were very careful about hygiene and were worried that there might be an outbreak of some disease. We had toilets that they cleaned every day.” – convinces Lifshitz.
During the press conference, the woman also accused Israeli security forces of ignoring evidence that Hamas was preparing an attack.
“Three weeks ago, people came to the fence. The IDF did not take it seriously. We were left to our own devices,” she said.
It will be recalled that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated on October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel with rockets.
On the same day, militants broke through the border and attacked the Supernova electronic music festival, killing some of the participants and taking them hostage.
On October 9, Israel announced that it had returned to control all areas on the border near the Gaza Strip.
Israel is currently planning a ground offensive against the Gaza Strip that could last three months.
According to the latest data, 222 people are being held hostage by Hamas.
