Russian actor Danyla Kozlovsky filed a lawsuit for the protection of honor and dignity against Vitaly Borodin, known for his denunciations, and TASS. RBC drew attention to this.

In early April, Borodin asked the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia to check Kozlovsky on the subject of “discrediting the Russian army.” The reason for the denunciation was the actor’s anti-war post written in February 2022 and his interview on Irina Shikhman’s YouTube channel, in which he allegedly “called on citizens to go to rallies.” Borodin also claimed that Kozlovsky moved to the United States to “distance himself from Russia.”

After the news about the denunciation was published in TASS, Kozlovsky criticized the “media without critical thinking” which “picked up Mr. Borodin’s fantasies.” The actor stated that he did not call for “any rallies”, does not intend to leave Russia and continues to play in the theater.

Borodin repeatedly wrote reports to the Prosecutor General’s Office against figures of Russian culture expressing an anti-war stance, including actress Lia Akhedzhakova, singer Valery Meladze, and singer Diana Arbenina.

  • After the full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine, the Russian authorities began to persecute cultural figures because of their opposition to the war. Many artists left their positions and platforms for performances, some went abroad.
  • According to “Mediazona”, more than six thousand cases have been opened under the administrative article on the discrediting of the Russian army. More than 500 people are being prosecuted under criminal charges for their anti-war stance, according to “OVD-Info” estimates.
