Representatives of the Ukrainian film community demand to postpone the consideration scheduled for tomorrow in the committee of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Strategy for the development of cinema until 2027. It was compiled by the State Film Agency without public discussion and for a long time refused to provide it at the request of the media and representatives of the film industry. Read UP.Culture in Telegram This is stated in a letter to the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna, which was posted on Facebook by the winner of the competition for the position of head of the Dovzhenko Center, Olena Honcharuk. “Friends, we have written a letter to Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna with a demand to postpone tomorrow’s consideration of the Strategy for the Development of Cinema until 2027 until its proper public discussion. Subscribe, who supports, until 3:00 p.m. today, and then we will send it. Thank you!” she wrote. The letter states that the strategy for the development of cinema was not discussed with the public, and upon numerous requests from the public to provide the draft Strategy of State Cinema, it was refused to provide it, justifying it by the fact that it is “official information” or “is at the stage of development, is constantly changing, supplemented and corrected”. “Derzhkino also refused to provide the draft Strategy to the members of the Public Council under Derzhkino, who sent a request to discuss this project in accordance with Clause 7 of the Procedure,” the authors added. Therefore, the signatories demand to postpone consideration of the strategy until a proper public discussion with Ukrainian film producers, film directors, managers, specialized institutions and other interested parties. The review of the strategy by Derzhkino was scheduled for tomorrow.
