The car was “with legs”: the man who was rescued from the house in Solomyanka needs help

On January 2, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine, in particular, destroying a residential building in the Solomyansk district.
Among the survivors is 62-year-old Oleg Gontarenko, who has been disabled since birth. The man’s height is 1.05 meters, journalist Nataliya Nagorna said.
Now Oleg needs help, because his things and his car have burned down. The apartment suffered almost the most – only some clothes and crutches could be retrieved.
“You have probably seen the photo of Oleg Gontarenko’s rescue on social networks. He was carried out of the collapsed, smoky apartment in the arms of rescuers.
Oleg walks on crutches. But he traveled by car. These were his “legs”. There is nothing left of the car”– wrote the TSN journalist.

When a Russian rocket flew into the yard, he was having breakfast in his room.
“This saved him, because the epicenter of the explosion was under the kitchen windows. Oleg sat under the rubble of the destroyed house for almost an hour. Everything around him was on fire.
He could not get out on his own, although he tried several times to climb over the mountains of furniture, concrete, glass and things. He was pulled out by rescuers and most of you saw this rescue”– journalist Olena Rovenchuk also wrote.

Now Oleg is in the hospital, but he has nowhere to go back.
“What worries him the most is how he will be without a car now, because, he says, it was his legs. He has had problems with his bones since he was born, he does not walk well. After the death of his mother and his brother, he was left alone, and a specially equipped car became his ticket to the world .
He went to the store, to the cinema, to the theater and wherever he wanted. Oleg is very sociable and told me that he is most afraid of being locked up, without communication.”– adds Olena.
The man opened a collection for a new home. Anyone interested can also transfer funds using the details provided by Nataliya Nagorna.
