In the Lviv region, patrolman Oleksandr Futryk provided first aid to the participants in the road accident, in particular to the 7-year-old child who was injured the most.
As reported by the patrol police of the Lviv region, the inspector, heading along the Kyiv-Chop highway on his own business, became an eyewitness to a road accident near the village of Chishki in the Lviv region. He ran to the scene, gave instructions to call an ambulance and immediately began to provide first aid to the victims.
In a comment for “UP. Life” Oleksandr Futryk said that that day he went to the entertainment center with his wife and small child.
“A bus was moving in front of me, and then I suddenly saw pieces of cars flying. It turned out that the bus did not brake at the right moment and rammed into the car ahead. Two more cars were also involved in the accident.

I immediately pulled off the road, turned on the emergency horn and ran to the scene. The car that was hit by the bus had the most damage. The driver, her 7-year-old daughter and grandfather were in it. I saw that the child was pinned between the seat and the side pillar, there were marks of blows on her face and blood was coming from her mouth“, says the patrolman.
The rear side door was blocked, so Oleksandr Futryk reached the child through the driver’s seat. He fixed the girl in a position that protected her from the risk of choking on blood.
According to the patrolman, the child was semi-conscious, and despite the shock state, she was silent. The man held the girl’s hand all the time until the ambulance arrived. He also kept her head in a stable position and monitored her breathing. Oleksandr wrapped the child with a blanket that was in the car to prevent hypothermia.
“My task was to ensure that the child had a stable pulse and breathing before the arrival of the medics. If her condition had worsened, I would have taken other measures. Rescuers who arrived at the scene unblocked the door, and doctors put a fixation pad on the girl’s neck. She was carried on a stretcher to an ambulance“, adds Oleksandr Futryk.
The patrolman emphasizes that he did not do anything special, but simply was with the victims, reassured and monitored their condition. People from other cars received minor injuries.
After rescuing the victims, the patrolman and his family abandoned plans to go to the entertainment center.
“Hands and clothes were covered in blood. And the mood was not for entertainment“, says the inspector.

Oleksand Futryk urges drivers who witnessed an accident not to rush pull out all the victims from the cars.
“If the car is not on fire and is not over an abyss, there is no need to drag anyone anywhere – this can only cause harm. It is necessary to keep the victims in a safe position. Moreover, it is cold outside, and outside the car they risk freezing“, he emphasizes.
