The Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has sent a letter about not allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to international sports competitions, the Ministry of Education and Culture reports with a link to the Telegram page.

“Russian troops continue to kill and interrogate the civilian population, children, launch rockets at residential buildings, destroy our infrastructure – hospitals, schools, stadiums and sports complexes. “Belarus provides its territory for the training of Russian soldiers, for the take-off of Russian bombers, for launching missiles at peaceful Ukrainian cities,” the letters say.

Also, the head of the Committee for Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine, Vadym Stetsenko, noted that: “Sports in the hands of dictators is another tool with which they (Russians and Belarusians) lie to the world and spread chauvinistic ideas.”

He also asked “to use all available methods to ensure that the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in school and student sports competitions continues.”

Multiple world champion Vladimir Klitschko called on the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach not to allow Russia to participate in the 2024 Olympics.
