Parliament voted for new conditions for accepting Ukrainian citizenship. It will be necessary to pass exams on the knowledge of the Constitution, the history of Ukraine and the state language. The explanatory note states that foreigners must pass an exam to obtain citizenship. Those who have already received it must pass an exam within 2 years, otherwise their citizenship will be revoked. We will remind you that Article 9 of the Law on Citizenship of Ukraine contained the following conditions for acceptance: recognition and observance of the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine; submission of a declaration on the absence of foreign citizenship or an obligation to terminate foreign citizenship (for foreigners); continuous residence on legal grounds in the territory of Ukraine during the last 5 years. For certain persons, the minimum term was 2 years; obtaining an immigration permit; proficiency in the state language in accordance with the level established by the legislation of Ukraine.
