José Gagnon is the founder of the Canadian charity L’Avant, which helps people achieve their dreams at the end of their lives.

In January L’Avant via Facebook appealed to everyone who could contact the director of the legendary film, which was to be released in a few weeks.

“We would like to make a little magic for a person at the end of their life”the charity wrote.

Time was of the essence, as the patient had several weeks to live. The request reached Denis Villeneuve.

Jose Gagnon said the director and executive producer were “extremely moved” by her husband’s last wish.

“They told me: ‘It is for him that we make films,'” – the woman recalls.

Denis Villeneuve handed over his own laptop to an elderly supporter – an assistant brought it by plane from the USA to Canada.

A man being cared for in a palliative care center near Quebec was watching a movie with French subtitles with a caregiver.

Both signed non-disclosure agreements and put away their phones during the viewing to prevent leaks.

“The man was so weak that we thought he might die just watching. But it doesn’t matter.

A man who lived a very difficult life saw extraordinary people who united to fulfill his last will. It is more expensive than all the gold in the world. He died shortly thereafter.” Gagnon said. She decided not to name the devoted Dune fan.
