The director of the Paris Institute for Political Studies (Sciences Po), who was previously accused of domestic violence, has resigned, reports Politico.

The head of the prestigious university, Mathias Wisherath, announced his resignation a few months after he was suspended.

After the scandal, the director returned to work for a while, but some students expressed their indignation. Now he decided to draw up his credentials.

“As I already wrote, it is not so much my personality that is important to me, but the institution…

I still deny the allegations of violence that have been made against me.” – he wrote to colleagues, teachers and students.

Mathias added that he and his ex-partner Anissa Bonnefont will stand trial.

In December 2023, police arrested Wisherath and Bonnefont after they accused each other of domestic violence. The woman said Wisherath pushed her to the ground and he said she slapped him.

The couple stayed in the police station for one day. No one filed an official lawsuit.

“I have never and under no circumstances committed such actions. I would like to emphasize that until the end of our stay in police custody, no one filed a single complaint, no legal restrictions were issued.”said the man.

As a reminder, Sciences Po University was founded in 1872. It is the leading university in France in the field of social sciences. Among his outstanding graduates – 5 French presidents, including Emmanuel Macron, fashion designer Christian Dior, writer Marcel Prus, many world politicians and journalists.

We will remind, in Ukraine, students of KNU named after Shevchenko is demanding the dismissal of a teacher at the Institute of Journalism due to sexism: he is also accused of pro-Russian views and campaigning for “OPZJ”.
