The educational ombudsman offered an alternative to the destroyed schools

[ad_1]

As of February 13, 2023, 3,098 educational institutions in Ukraine were damaged or destroyed as a result of Russia’s full-scale war. The Ukrainian authorities already have ideas for the rapid restoration of kindergartens. They should be replaced by quick-build structures. Educational ombudsman Serhiy Gorbachev suggests using them as an alternative to destroyed schools. The experience of countries that have gone through war shows that training can take place in any safe space. And in the warm seasons – open air. “We are watching with great interest how other countries use quick-build modular educational institutions and temporary structures attached to the main school building to ensure children’s rights to both preschool and general secondary education,” says Serhii Gorbachev. Among the advantages of quick-build modular buildings, Gorbachev named: practicality and accessibility; efficiency; reducing the cost of construction; environmental benefit. However, the ombudsman adds that for this it is necessary to analyze the legislative and regulatory framework for the construction of educational institutions in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the first projects of modular schools are already appearing in Ukraine. We will remind, in Ukraine, the order of the Ministry of Education and Culture on the cancellation of the DPA for students of the 4th and 9th grades came into force.
