The first art auction from UP and “Return Alive” has started for the collection of the legendary Crimean Brigade
The first ART CAN HELP charity auction has started. Contemporary, organized by the publication “Ukrainian Pravda” and with the support of the “Return Alive” charitable foundation. It lasts from February 23 to 28 at the Kyiv GOLDENS auction house. All funds collected at the auction will be directed to meeting the needs of the 10th Naval Aviation Brigade named after Igor Bedzai. These are specialized transport, communications, drones, Starlink and aviation headset sets. The auction lots include works by Ukrainian artists, provided personally by the authors. Most of the works were created during 2022, so the main theme of these works is the artists’ reflection on the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, their own observations and personal feelings. From the “News” series (2022) 10th Naval Aviation Brigade, named after the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Ihor Bedzai, conducted a unique operation in 2014. On the order of Colonel Bedzai, the deputy commander of the flight training brigade, the unit evacuated its aviation equipment from Crimea, which had already been besieged by the Russians. On May 7, 2022, Colonel Bedzai took off for another complex search and rescue operation in near the mouth of the Danube River. The officer’s crew accomplished their mission, but their Mi-14 was hit by a Russian guided missile. The colonel and five others in of the country’s military, who were on board, died. Currently, the one-of-a-kind unit of the Ukrainian Navy, named after Bedzai, not only dreams of returning to its native Crimea, but also takes revenge on enemies for its friend and commander with each of its operations.
