The Ministry of Defense has begun testing fabric for an anti-thermal imaging poncho. The fabric is expected to absorb infrared radiation.

Currently, five samples of different fabrics are being tested in the Central Department, the department reports. .

It is noted that the materials for the production of the fabric of the anti-thermal vision cape must be flexible and resistant to the environment, in particular, atmospheric precipitation.

The fabric also has:

“The specificity is that we need to create a material that will absorb infrared radiation and have low thermal conductivity.

Our goal is to camouflage military personnel and equipment from the enemy as reliably as possible“, Deputy Minister of Defense Vitaly Polovenko said.

If the development is successfully completed, the cape will help the Ukrainian military to remain invisible to enemy thermal imagers and night vision devices, added the Ministry of Defense.

In general, since the beginning of the year, the Central Department has already approved six improved clothing samples: winter gloves, jackets, insulated pants, thermal clothing and T-shirts.
