The Lviv City Council explained why the driver who closed the bus door in front of a disabled soldier was not fired.
The case, which became known from social networks, happened on October 20, 2023. According to eyewitnesses, the driver refused to wait for the soldier to get inside, citing lack of time.
The driver of bus route #29 has already been reprimanded and his bonus for October has been withdrawn. However, they were not released.
As explained in the transport department of the Lviv City Council, the driver did not see the man at the stop.

“He started moving, and only after that people in the cabin started shouting for him to stop, because there is a person without a limb at the stop. But the driver had already started maneuvering and creating an accident on the road – there were several other buses in front of him. I have video from surveillance cameras “, – said the head of the department Orest Oleskiv.
The official also noted that the driver should have acted differently and explained to the passengers why he could not stop the bus.
“Therefore, the punishment is administrative in the form of a reprimand and withdrawal of the premium. If the driver’s actions are repeated, then he will be fired.” – assured the city council.
The City Hall of Lviv also reported that the city lacks 120 city bus drivers, which is a “record shortage of workers.”
