Military serviceman Vladyslav Zhuravel, who is fighting in the Bakhmut direction, sheltered the bat and made it a star of social networks.

A fighter of the 42nd separate mechanized brigade feeds a bat with zophobas larvae and scratches with a toothbrush, and cute videos publishes on Twitter.

The platypus, which belongs to the species “ruddy nightingale”, was named Little. In the commentary “UP. Life”, the fighter talked about his “friendship” with the bat.

“There is a popular cat on Twitter, which was named Sirsky (a strange coincidence with the Commander-in-Chief’s surname). Since the bat became a favorite of Twitter users, we had to continue the tradition. Therefore, the name Malyuk is also a strange coincidence.” – says Vladyslav.

He met with a bat unexpectedly – at night I accidentally caught it with a slipper in the dark, after which I heard an ultrasound squeak.

“I was scared, but I realized that only a bat can make such sounds. Therefore, I took it into a bucket and covered it with a lid with holes until the morning, so that I could figure out what to do with it tomorrow.

That day there was a shelling by KABs, and probably he flew over and accidentally got to us.” – shares the military.

The man was looking for information about handling bats on the Internet and found the Bat Rehabilitation Center. I didn’t have much time, so I called right away.

Volunteer Lika replied that she would find someone to take care of the animal.

“I say that I am in the city of N in the war zone, and she replied that she herself is from Donbas, so she is looking for it. Unfortunately, it was not found, so Lika sent me a bat survival kit: zophobas larvae, tweezers, three bags and beautiful stickers”, – the fighter recalls.

The kid is a smart bat. When he wakes up, he squeaks with ultrasound, but when he hears Vladyslav, he calms down and starts looking for food.

According to the man, the animal is a little afraid of shelling. If he hears sharp sounds during feeding, he freezes immediately.

“He listens. I soothe him with my voice and stroke his back with a toothbrush, then he continues his meal”says the soldier.

The first time Vladyslav failed to feed the bat, because he did not know how to do it. I had to read the 126-page care manual from the Center.

The fighter says that feeding bats is actually not difficult if you follow the instructions.

At first, the bat was very thin, but already began to gain weight. Now he has “shoulders like an Atlantean”, jokes Vladyslav.

When asked how his fellow citizens reacted to the new resident, the soldier answers:

“Everyone was interested. Some overcame their fear of bats. I told them everything I read in the book.

Bat does not bother anyone at all. He eats once a day in the evening, I clean for him and put him to bed for the day. It takes about 30 minutes.”

Of course, it was not without funny situations. One of them was described by a military man on Twitter.

After him, the zampolit of the battalion and the zampolit of the company enter. Three officers watch me feed a bat in the middle of the night sitting on a cardboard chair wrapped in pretty bags. Everyone is silent. Without saying a word, they leave.

This is not the first animal rescued by the fighters of the 42nd Brigade. Last year, for example, Vladyslav took care of a crow with a broken wing, which he found after shelling.

“I found an ornithologist, they took an X-ray, put on a stabilizing bandage, prescribed injections and care. In three weeks, the crow got better, but he didn’t want to leave us, because he (also a boy) had fun and was satisfied with the boys.” – recalls the defender.

“Why did I decide to take care of the crow then and the bat now? It’s hemorrhoids, it’s expenses. But I understood that no one needed them anymore, and at least there would be a chance for life. In addition, they were not to blame for the injuries, this is not natural selection. Only the Russians and their missile terror are to blame.”– explained fighter.

Soon Vladyslav will have to say goodbye to Malyuk as well.

The bat will be released with the onset of phenological spring – when it will be warm, there will be plenty of food, and its “relatives” will already be flying.

“Then he will wake up from his winter hibernation and fly to find a bat for himself. And I will remain only a pleasant memory, like a warm long winter sleep.”– adds Vladyslav.
