From April 2024, the military will be able to determine to whom and at what percentage a one-time cash benefit will be paid in the event of their death or death.

The corresponding law entitled “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Appointment and Payment of One-Time Cash Assistance” No. 3515-IX was signed by the President of Ukraine on December 28, 2023, the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reported.

Therefore, the following categories of citizens have the right to make a personal order in the event of their death (death) to pay a one-time cash benefit:

  • to members of the rank and file of the civil protection service;
  • military personnel, conscripts or reservists (called for training (or inspection) and special meetings or to serve in the military reserve);
  • employees of critical infrastructure facilities;
  • civil servants;
  • officials of local self-government;
  • a policeman

At the same time, regardless of the content of the personal order, minors, minors, disabled children of full age, disabled widows (widowers) and disabled parents of a deceased (deceased) person have the priority right to one-time financial assistance.

However, in the absence of a personal order, the following are entitled to the corresponding share of one-time cash assistance:

  • children, in particular adopted children, conceived during the life of the deceased (deceased) person and born after his death;
  • children in respect of whom the deceased (deceased) person was deprived of parental rights during his lifetime;
  • one of the spouses who survived the deceased (deceased) person;
  • parents (adoptive parents) of the deceased (deceased) person, if they were not deprived of parental rights in relation to him or their parental rights were renewed at the time of his death (death);
  • grandchildren of the dead (deceased) person, if at the time of his death (death) their parents died (deceased);
  • woman (man), with whom (with whom) the deceased (deceased) person lived in the same family, but were not married to each other or in any other marriage (provided that this fact is established by a court decision that has entered into force );
  • dependents of a deceased (deceased) person, defined in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On pension provision of persons released from military service and certain other persons”.
