Radiation therapy is one of the effective methods of cancer treatment. Radiological treatment is free for patients under the Medical Guarantee Program, the Ministry of Health says. “For the patient, a complex of medical services is free of charge, from doctor’s consultations and necessary examinations to radiation therapy and medicines,” the department says. Free treatment is provided in institutions that have concluded an agreement with the National Health Service of Ukraine within the package: “radiological treatment and support of patients with oncological diseases in inpatient and outpatient settings.” Photo: [email protected]/Depositphotos Free of charge within the package are: counseling, medical assistance; conducting laboratory tests (blood tests, cerebrospinal fluid tests, molecular genetic tests, etc.); instrumental studies (MRI, X-ray, CT, endoscopic studies, ultrasound, scintigraphy, etc.); round-the-clock medical supervision and nursing care; radiation therapy, treatment with nuclear medicine methods; provision of medical products for radiotherapy, consumables; oxygen support; intensive therapy; analgesia at all stages of diagnosis and treatment, when necessary; psychological assistance; provision of blood components and preparations; rehabilitation; medicines from centralized purchases of the Ministry of Health and other programs, as well as medicines and medical products from the National List; food in the hospital. The Ministry of Health notes that radiological treatment should be free of charge for patients in all medical institutions of Ukraine that have a contract with the National Health Service, regardless of the patient’s place of registration. In 2022, almost 40,000 patients received free radiological treatment under the Medical Guarantee Program. You can find a medical institution that has a contract with the NHSHU: on the website of the NHSHU – dashboard “Concluded contracts for medical care of the population under the medical guarantee program”; under number 16-77.
