In more than 20 months of full-scale war, Russian troops damaged 1,468 medical facilities in Ukraine. Another 193 were completely destroyed.

According to the Ministry of Health, the Russian invaders are destroying medical infrastructure facilities (hospitals, dispensaries, polyclinics, maternity hospitals, etc.) in order to hinder the work of doctors and create an additional burden on the medical system.

According to the Ministry of Health, the greatest losses were incurred by medical facilities in Kharkiv Oblast, Donetsk Oblast, Mykolaiv Oblast, Kyiv Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, and Kherson Oblast. Since the beginning of the war, the enemy has also lost emergency medical vehicles: 103 vehicles were damaged, 253 were destroyed, and 125 were captured.

“However, despite all the attacks on medical facilities and the constant bombing of the enemy, work on the reconstruction of the medical infrastructure continues in Ukraine. First of all, we are talking about facilities in the de-occupied territories, which as a result of enemy shelling and bombing suffered minor damage.”– the Ministry of Health notes.

Thus, as of the beginning of November 2023, 421 medical facilities have already been fully restored, and another 413 facilities have been partially restored. Currently, the largest number of restored medical facilities are in Mykolaiv Oblast, Dnipro Oblast, Kyiv Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, and Chernihiv Oblast.
