Police lieutenant colonel Dmytro Borodavkin from Luhansk region had not only to destroy the enemy, but also to deal with burials and dig holes himself for citizens who died in the war. The most difficult thing, he says, is to record the death of fallen soldiers.

The story of the fighter is told in the National Police of Ukraine.

In 2014, he was a witness to the attempts of militants to seize the building of the Main Police Headquarters in Luhansk and was an active participant in the resistance movement to the occupation authorities.

At that time, working in Lutugina in the State Inspection, Dmytro decided to take to Kharkiv the software and hardware complex, thanks to which the militants of the so-called “LPR” wanted to print “Linden” documents.

The most difficult thing, says Dmytro, is to record the death of fallen soldiers

In February 2022, in order to prevent the enemy from taking possession of the weapons, Dmytro and his colleagues took them all away. Then he returned to Lysychansk as part of a joint detachment:

My colleagues and I became not only policemen, but also security for our repairmen, who repaired electrical networks during shelling, and volunteers who retrieved medicine. When there was no one left in the city, we organized garbage removal, street cleaning, burials, sometimes we even had to dig holes“, Dmytro says.

Dmytro repeatedly delivered fuel to Lysychansk. Even after the policemen had to leave for Bakhmut, Dmytro Borodavkin went to the outpost of the Luhansk region until the very end and delivered the essentials.

The lieutenant colonel of the police had to record the death of the fallen soldiers. He says it was the most difficult thing in his work:

They brought the deceased. It was necessary to describe everything. He didn’t have any documents, only a phone, on the screen of which I saw an SMS from his daughter: “Daddy, hello.” At that moment, my heart seemed to burst“.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, Dmitry had to take his wife and parents to a safer place.

The war gave me a clear understanding that a reliable support is always important in a person’s life. I have this is family Therefore, for their sake, I am ready to fight for our future“, he says.

Dmytro has two sons, both of them, like their father, have a clear position – to protect their own no matter what.

The elder volunteered for the army. He currently serves in the ranks of the Armed Forces.

And the younger one studies at the university. His future plans are to serve.
