The police are investigating more than 70 cases of sexual violence by the occupiers

The police are investigating 77 cases of sexual violence committed by the Russian occupiers on the territory of Ukraine.

This was reported by the First Deputy Head of the National Police Maksym Tsutzkiridze in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

“Regarding sexual violence committed during the war, we have 77 cases, 89 victims. Some of the victims are in Ukraine, some have left, but are cooperating with the investigation.” – he noted.

So far, the police have informed 27 occupiers of their suspicions. The vast majority of them are extramural.

“Again, we don’t know the real numbers about sexual violence, and we don’t know how many people actually died in the occupied territories. But this crime is a war crime and has no statute of limitations.” Tsutzkiridze emphasized.

We will remind you that in May 2022, the first case of rape during the war was referred to the court – then the occupier who abused Ukrainians in the Kyiv region was accused.

The largest number of sexual crimes committed by the Russian military against Ukrainian men and women was recorded in the Kherson region. As of October 5, 2023, there were 235 of them.
