The police in St. Petersburg interrupted the “Limonovsky Readings”

[ad_1]

In St. Petersburg on Saturday evening, the police interrupted a concert dedicated to the writer and political activist Eduard Limonov. The event called “Limonov readings” took place in the “Ionoteka” club. Its organizers claim that the concert was “patriotic”, and at it they read poems in support of “special military operation” – that’s how the Russian authorities call the war in Ukraine.

According to the “Fontanka” publication, the police appeared in the club near the end of the event, turned off the lights and demanded that those gathered present their documents. They justified their actions by the fact that “some application was received”, however, they did not specify what exactly it was about.

Telegram channel “National Human Rights Protection”, which is associated with activists of the banned National Bolshevik Party created by Limonov, claims that eight people were detained as they were leaving the club. The four were released after checking their documents. Four more – Andrey Pesotskyi, Kirill Travkin, Stanislav Bubenchykov and Kristina Metkina – were left overnight at the police station. Presumably, they are accused of petty hooliganism.

The media reports that the rapper Shokk, who previously supported Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, and the rapper Rich, the author of the track “Dirty Job”, who performed on September 30 last year at a concert on Red Square in honor of the annexation of the “new territories” to Russia, performed at the concert. Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine.

The organizer of the concert – the coordinator of the unregistered party “Drugaya Russia E.V. Lymonov” Andrey Dmitriev – called the event “a concert of Russian patriotic youth, where people read poems in support of the SVO”.
