The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a law that regulates the issue of military service and, in particular, release to the reserve. The new law No. 8169 improves the provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service”, reports the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Now servicemen who were deemed unfit for service by the military medical commission during martial law, with a review after 6-12 months, can be released to the reserve. Also, the law establishes a mandatory trial period of 1 to 6 months for soldiers who are first accepted into military service under a contract. It was also necessary to distinguish between service in peacetime, and for a special period (during martial law).
