The Pskov authorities obliged the singer Yolka not to discredit the army until July

The authorities of Pskov signed a contract with the singer Yolka, according to which she cannot discredit the Russian army until the Day of the City, on which she will perform. This is reported by “Pskov province”.

According to the contract, Yolka and her group undertake not to talk about politics at the concert and “not to allow statements or actions aimed at discrediting the Russian army” from the moment of signing the contract. City Day in Pskov is celebrated on July 23-24.

At the same time, Yolka will determine the list of songs for the performance independently. She will be paid more than three million rubles for the concert.

• After the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian authorities began to persecute cultural figures because of their anti-war stance. Many of them were left with positions and platforms for performances, some were forced to go abroad.
• In July 2022, Fontanka published a list of Russian musicians whose performances the authorities consider undesirable in Russia due to their anti-war stance. Almost everyone from the list faced the cancellation of concerts in Russia, some left the country.
• For the anti-war position against the leader of the rock group “DDT” Yury Shevchuk, the leader of the group “Nogu svelo!” Maksym Pokrovsky and actor Artur Smolyaninov were brought into administrative proceedings for the discrediting of the Russian army.
