The Perseverance rover photographed a large, dark rock with a donut-shaped hole in the center. The rock is surrounded by stones of a similar shade. So scientists assume that this stone is a piece of a large asteroid of extramartian origin, reports Space.com. The researchers note that this finding is not unprecedented. The same Perseverance rover detected a potential meteorite in February 2021 – a few weeks after the large rock landed. Scientists say that this is not the first stone that looks like baking. In 2012, NASA’s Opportunity rover spotted a rock that was white on the outside and red on the inside. The astronaut team compared it to a jelly doughnut.
